NBA Franchise acquisition finance

Navigating NBA franchise ownership requires more than wealth—it demands deep networks, league approval, and strategic capital deployment. Leveraging our extensive experience within the NBA, we collaborated with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter to support NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo’s bid to acquire the Houston Rockets.

Our involvement included structuring a robust $2.2 billion bid package, raising an $800 million mezzanine piece, and providing a financial strategy that included both equity and debt components. While the franchise was ultimately sold to Tilman Fertitta for $200 million less than our offer, we remain proud to have championed Mutombo’s vision and brought our commercial expertise to the table.

This effort underscores our capability to structure creative investment solutions, including preferred equity and senior debt, and our ability to align with visionary leadership. Whether providing $200–350 million in equity or $600–800 million in senior debt, we craft tailored strategies to maximise efficiency and value.
